FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for determining the local coordinates of autonomous moving devices (AMDs) as part of a system for collecting data on a limited space of arbitrary shape and objects in a specified space. Method of determining local coordinates includes locating in the specified limited space a datum target (DT) of the reference of local coordinates, including a laser ranging module and a wireless communication module, and at least two AMDs, each of which includes a module for determining local coordinates, containing an inertial navigation unit and a laser ranging unit, determining the primary coordinate of each AMD relative to DT through interaction with the DT laser ranging module, changing the position of each of the AMDs with ensuring for each of them the passage of a set of points of the specified space and obtaining data on local coordinates at each point based on the data of the inertial navigation unit, and correcting local coordinate data obtained from inertial navigation unit data, through interaction with the laser ranging module DT, if the DT is in the line of sight of the specified AMD, and with the laser ranging unit of another AMD, if the DT is not detected in the line of sight of the given AMD. System for implementing this method of determining local coordinates is also declared.

EFFECT: technical result is to improve the accuracy of determining the local coordinates of AMD when they study a limited space of arbitrary geometry without the possibility of using global positioning systems.
