FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of railway transport, namely to brake pads of cargo railway vehicles, forming a friction pair with the rolling surface of a railway wheel. Brake shoe of a railway vehicle includes a metal frame and a polymer composite friction element, in the center of which a transverse groove with rounded edges is made on the side of the working surface of the pad. Diameters of the rounding edges of the recess in the plane of the wheel rolling circle are chosen from the relation: D=0.45÷1.8P, where D is the diameter of rounding, P is the allowable wear on the wheel rental.
EFFECT: ensuring the required resource of the block is achieved not only when installed on a wheel without rolling, but also on wheels whose rental is close to the maximum allowable value.
