FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport, namely, to brake blocks of freight railroad vehicles, which form friction pair with rolling surface of railway wheel. Brake block of railway vehicle contains metal frame and polymer composite friction element, in the center of which on the side of working surface of shoe there is a cavity, depth of which is more than half of thickness of a block. Deepening depth is selected from the following ratio: L=0.83÷0.96(H-R), where L – depth of recess, H – thickness of working part of shoe, R – maximum allowable wheel rolling.
EFFECT: enabling the required performance of the block not only when mounted on the wheel without rolling, but also on wheels, rolling of which is close to the maximum allowable value.
