FIELD: vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle testing, namely to in-process inspection, and concerns the determination of one of the characteristics of speed properties. Method of determining the maximum vehicle speed on dirt roads is to move the test vehicle (TV) on the support surface in the unsteady driving mode, determined by the profile and carrying capacity of the support surface with the coefficient of total resistance to movement, and to determine the value of the average fuel consumption of the engine and the proportionality coefficient, characteristic for each type of vehicle, determined through the control fuel consumption, the speed corresponding to the control fuel consumption, and the coefficient of resistance to movement, corresponding to the road with a smooth hard surface, and to determine the average driving speed on the basis of mathematical expression. On the dirt road of the established category, the vehicle is moved to the maximum achievable speed, and it is stored at a measuring section of 1000 m with a deviation of no more than ±2 % with the determination of maximum fuel consumption, and the maximum speed is reduced to the average value for the road category by mathematical expression.
EFFECT: it is possible to assess the degree of utilization of the potential speed characteristics of a vehicle on dirt roads.
