FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to heat treatment of materials surface by concentrated energy sources, and can be used for laser hardening of surface of parts from iron-carbon alloys. To improve the part processing quality by excluding the tempering zones, the method of laser hardening of the part surface involves heating the part surface with a laser beam using a scanner, wherein part surface heating is performed by continuous laser when beam is moved along normal to its displacement vector with oscillation frequency of beam 10÷200 Hz, amplitude of oscillations A=(2÷100)d and with radiation energy density 20÷26 W c/mm2, where d is diameter of beam on part surface.
EFFECT: method of laser hardening of parts surface is proposed.
