FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. This method for an engine is that when engine (10) is operating in the cold start mode and during the cold start mode, until the activation temperature of exhaust gas catalytic converter (72), (73) is reached, the exhaust gases, which have been collected from first exhaust valve (E1) of each engine cylinder (20), are directed to exhaust gas catalytic converter (72), (73) through first exhaust channel (162), bypassing heat exchanger (80) in second separate exhaust channel (55) and second exhaust valve (E2) of each cylinder (20) of the engine is deactivated. After the activation temperature of catalytic converter (72), (73) is reached, the exhaust gases, which have been taken from second exhaust valve (E2), are directed to heat exchanger (80) through second exhaust channel (55) during the deactivation of first exhaust valve (E1). Heat is transferred from the exhaust gases to the engine coolant in heat exchanger (80). Disclosed is an embodiment of a method for an engine and a system for exhaust gas heat recovery.
EFFECT: technical result consists in preventing a delay in the warm-up of the exhaust gas catalytic converter.
