FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines with a branched exhaust system containing an exhaust gas recirculation system. Method for engine consists in that in response to selected operating conditions of engine (10) one or more valves are disconnected from group of first outlet valves (8), connected to the first exhaust manifold (84), leaving all valves from the group of the second exhaust valves (6) connected to the second outlet header (80). First outlet manifold (84) is connected to outlet channel (74). Second exhaust manifold (80) is connected to intake channel (28) through the exhaust gas recirculation line (50). Second exhaust manifold (80) and the first exhaust manifold (84) are connected to all cylinders of engine (10). Embodiment of the method for the engine and system for the engine are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in acceleration of engine warm-up during cold start and in direction of smaller amount of oxygen into catalytic neutraliser during fuel cut-off during deceleration.
