FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines with a branched exhaust system containing systems for recirculating exhaust gases. Method for engine consists in that phases of inlet valves (2), (4) gas distribution, phases of exhaust valves group (6) and position of exhaust gas recirculation valve (54) in gas line (50) of exhaust gas recirculation in compliance with state in compressor (162). Line (50) of exhaust gas recirculation is installed between intake channel (28), upstream of compressor (162), and outlet header (80) connected to group of outlet valves (6). Coordinated control includes first control of gas distribution phases of outlet valves (6). Gas inlet valves (2), (4) timing phases are then adjusted or the exhaust gas recirculation valve (54) position is controlled, if maximum value of control of timing phases of outlet valves (6) is achieved, depending on state in compressor (162) and current phases of intake valves (2), (4). Embodiments of the method for an engine and system for an engine are disclosed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in prevention of ingress of excess amount of EGR gases into compressor and in prevention of increase in compressor rpm and temperature.
