SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating system. Electrically controlled system which generates an aerosol comprises an aerosol-generating device; an aerosol-forming cartridge comprising a base layer and at least one aerosol-forming substrate made on the base layer, wherein the main layer and at least one aerosol-forming substrate are substantially flat and substantially parallel to each other, and when used, the aerosol-forming cartridge is at least partially placed into the aerosol-generating device; at least one electric heater for heating at least one aerosol-forming substrate during use; and at least one air inlet and at least one air outlet; wherein when using system, generating aerosol, further comprises an air flow path extending between at least one air inlet and at least one air outlet, wherein the air flow channel is in fluid communication with the aerosol-forming substrate, and wherein the air flow channel has a surface in form of an inner wall on which one or more flow perturbation elements are made, wherein flow perturbation elements are arranged to create turbulent boundary layer in air flow drawn through air flow channel.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is improved control of air flow through the aerosol generating system.
