SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the tobacco industry, namely to aerosol generating systems. The aerosol generating system contains a cartridge. The cartridge contains a cartridge case. The cartridge contains solid aerosol forming substrate and liquid storage case, each of which is located in the cartridge case. The cartridge also contains liquid aerosol forming substrate located inside the liquid storage case. The cartridge includes a seal provided on the liquid storage case. The aerosol generating system contains an aerosol generating device. The aerosol generating device contains a device case that forms a cavity for placing the cartridge. The aerosol generating device contains an electric heater and a power supply unit and a controller for controlling the power supply from the power supply unit to the electric heater. The aerosol generating device includes a piercing element made with the possibility of piercing the seal when the cavity accommodates the cartridge, wherein the electric heater is located outside the piercing element.
EFFECT: technical result is simplifying the design of the aerosol generating system.
