FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: cutting tool comprises an indexable cutting plate with four cutting sections that can be detachably attached to the holder by means of a fastening element. Cutting plate comprises two opposite end surfaces with peripheral side surface extending therebetween. Each cutting section comprises main cutting edge formed by intersection of front surface with rear surface. Peripheral side surface comprises first and second pairs of opposite side surfaces, which include four rear surfaces and four front surfaces, respectively. On the end face view four cutting tops on four main cutting edges form transitions between the first and second pairs of opposite side surfaces. Minimum first size along the length between the second pair of opposite side surfaces is less than six tenths of the minimum second size along the length between two of the four cutting tops.
EFFECT: enabling creation of an indexable cutting plate with four cutting sections and a cutting tool for it.
