FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, dentistry, maxillofacial surgery for calculation of dental arch length of lower jaw using classical mathematical calculation or algorithm of computer programs. Length of the dental arch of the patient is calculated, an impression is taken from the lower jaw, and a gypsum diagnostic and control model is made. Dental arch width is measured between most projecting points of canines, first premolars, second premolars, first molars, second molars from vestibular and lingual sides. Dental arch depth is measured at the same levels from the point located at the center of the cutting edge of the medial cutter to the point of intersection with the line connecting the most projecting points of the canines, the first premolars, the second premolars, the first molars, the second molars from the vestibular or lingual sides. To calculate length of dental arch of lower jaw, obtained data are used in formula: L=0.75p+1.96q, where p is an index equal to half the width of the dental arch AB measured in accordance with Fig. 3, mm, q is an index equal to the depth of the dental arch OE measured in accordance with Fig. 3, mm, where the dental arch measurements are obtained from the gypsum diagnostic and control model.

EFFECT: method enables reducing the probability of errors when determining starting points and improving the accuracy of calculating the length of the dental arch of the lower jaw.
