FIELD: lighting engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering and can be used in light-emitting diodes for automobiles. Light source (1) comprises coherent excitation radiation (3) source in form of solid-state laser (2) with emission maximum in spectral range of 340–480 nm and crystalline phosphor monocrystal (4) having composition (Y0.15Lu0.85)3Al5O12 or chemical formula B1-qAlO3:Dq, where B is at least one of the chemical elements Y, Lu and Gd, D is at least one of the chemical elements Eu, Sm, Ti, Mn, Pr, Dy, Cr and Ce, q – from 0.0001 to 0.2, and content of chemical elements, designated in said chemical formula as D, is 0.01–20 mol%. Said crystalline phosphor converts radiation (3) into white light (5) in visible wavelength range corresponding to color temperature of 2,700–10,000 K. Surface of monocrystal (4) can be treated by grinding, polishing, application of antireflection layer. Monocrystal (4) can be connected to the coolant. Source (2) of radiation (3) and crystalline phosphor monocrystal (4) are connected by means of optical fiber (10) and optical lens (11). Light source may additionally contain monocrystal (4) holder and element (13) guiding light (5). Monocrystal (4) can consist of thin plates forming a multilayer structure.
EFFECT: invention reduces the size of the light source and increases brightness thereof.
