FIELD: personal use articles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to shaving device adapted to detect and cut hair near the skin surface of a human or animal body part. The device comprises a detector (26) adapted to detect the hair near the skin surface, and a laser for cutting the hair. The detector (26) comprises a source (27) adapted for emitting optical radiation comprising at least two wavelength and the polarisation state of the incident light, and a unit (28) of creating the image of the hair near the skin surface, which comprises a detection unit (29) of the optical radiation scattered and/or reflected by the hair and/or skin surface at both wavelengths, and a control unit. At that the detection unit (29) is designed to detect scattered and/or reflected optical radiation coming from the hair and/or skin surface, comprising the first state of polarisation corresponding to the state of polarisation of the incident light and the second state of polarisation differing from the first state of polarisation.
EFFECT: efficiency of detection, and hence the quality of shaving is increased, at that the power consumption is reduced and safety of shaving is increased.
