FIELD: hygiene.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to personal hygiene means, more specifically to an oral care composition containing: (i) a surfactant selected from poloxamer 108, poloxamer 188 or mixtures thereof; (ii) a non-ionic bioactive agent selected from cetylpyridinium chloride or ethyl lauroyl arginine, or a bioactive essential oil which is a mixture of thymol, eucalyptole, menthol and methyl salicylate; and (iii) at least one solvent suitable for oral administration, wherein the pH of the composition is maintained in the range of up to 5. Also provided are methods for treating plaque, gingivitis, inflammation of gums or bad breath and a method of reducing the number of microorganisms in the oral cavity, which cause dental plaque, gingivitis, inflammation of gums or bad breath, the above methods include the stage of application of the above composition on mammal oral tissues.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides improved bioavailability of the biologically active agent and high bactericidal activity.
