FIELD: hygiene.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an oral care composition. Disclosed is a composition containing: i. a phospholipid surfactant selected from the group consisting of cocamidopropyl PG-dimonium phosphate chloride, myristamopropyl PG-dimonium phosphate chloride, and mixtures thereof; ii. one or more bioactive essential oils selected from the group consisting of thymol, eucalyptol, menthol, methyl salicylate, and mixtures thereof, in a total amount of 0.03 % to 0.5 % by weight of the total weight of the composition; and iii. at least one solvent suitable for oral administration. Preferably, the bioactive essential oil is a mixture of thymol, eucalyptol, menthol and methyl salicylate. Composition may additionally contain a secondary surfactant, preferably a non-ionic surfactant - poly(oxyethylene)-poly(oxypropylene) block copolymer surfactant.
EFFECT: use of the above bioactive oils, which have antimicrobial properties, in combination with a phospholipid surfactant, provides improved bioavailability of the antimicrobial agent and, therefore, improved biocidal effect of the composition.
