OPTIMIZATION OF IMAGES WITH EXTENDED DYNAMIC RANGE FOR SPECIFIC DISPLAYS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC H04N9/68 G06T5/00

Abstract RU 2687267 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing video images to optimize pixel colors, particularly brightness thereof, when inputting a scene image with an extended dynamic range (HDR). Disclosed is a color conversion device for calculating resultant colors (R2, G2, B2) of pixels of an output image for a display with peak brightness (PB_D), starting from input colors (R, G, B) of pixels of input image (Im_in), having a code of maximum brightness signal, corresponding to peak brightness (PB_H) of the first image, which differs from peak display brightness, containing: a color conversion determining unit for determining color conversion (g) from color processing specification (MET) data, comprising at least one tonal compression function (CC) for at least a range of pixel luminances; a module for determining scaling coefficients for determining the resulting overall multiplication factor (gt), and comprises: a unit for determining performance indicators for determining a localization value of positions of peak display brightness between peak brightness (PB_H) of a first image and peak brightness (PB_L) of a second image and outside said range; and a module for determining resultant multipliers for determining from peak brightness (PB_D), an indicator and color conversion of the resulting overall multiplication factor (gt). Color conversion device also has a scaling multiplier for multiplying the linear representation of RGB colors of input colors by the resulting total multiplication factor (gt).

EFFECT: technical result is providing brightness conversion, which ignores color dimension of red and blue.
