SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous casting of metal elongated articles combined with rolling. Intermediate articles are fed along respective casting lines (2a, 2b) of casting section (20). On the first casting line (2a) aligned with rolling mill (10), the strip or elongated intermediate articles (b2a) are moved to be supplied to rolling mill (10). On second casting line (2b), not aligned with rolling mill (10), elongated intermediate articles (b2b) are moved to cross transfer region (35). Sensors (6, 7) control the absence of mutual interference on the first casting line (2a) and, by cross transfer in region (35), article (b2b) from the second casting line (2b) are added to articles (b2a) of the first casting line (2a) and articles (b2a, b2b) are successively rolled in mill (10). If there are interferences, intermediate articles (b2b) or stored in region (35) on second line (2b) until no interference on first line (2a), or transferred to refrigerator (40).
EFFECT: switching between continuous and semi-continuous operation modes at compact sizes of the plant.
