FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology, and can be used for diagnosis and monitoring of optic disk drusens (OD) in children. Ultrasonic examination (US) of an eyeball is performed, wherein the ultrasonic sensor is transpalpebral through a flat part of the ciliary body. OD volume is quantitatively estimated using optical coherence tomography (OCT) using the Macular Cube OCT protocol with size of 6 x 6 mm. If OD volume is less than 11 mm3 with simultaneous absence of hyperechoic rounded inclusions in OD projection by ultrasound findings, conclusion is made on the absence of OD drusen. If value is 12.1 ± 1.1 mm3 and simultaneous presence of hyperechoic rounded inclusions in OD projection by ultrasound findings, the presence of OD drusens is stated.
EFFECT: method provides diagnosing of OD drusens in children without using additional anaesthesia and narcosis, monitoring of OD progression due to quantitative evaluation of OD volume.
