FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology, neurology and radiodiagnosis, and can be used to determine the dynamics of the optic disk edema (ODE). Retinal images are obtained in the optic nerve head region by optical coherence tomography (OCT). Two localized points are determined in each side of the ODE. One of said points is the place of attachment of posterior hyaloid membrane of vitreous body to internal boundary membrane of retina. Second point is the projection point of the end of the Bruch's membrane immediately before the cup of the optic nerve head. Vertical line perpendicular to the Bruch membrane is drawn through each point. On each straight line, retinal thickness is measured from Bruch membrane to inner border membrane of retina in units of pixels (microseconds) or micrometers (mcm). Dynamics compares measurement results obtained at each point. If the measured thickness of the retina increases, an increase in the optic disk edema is determined. If the thickness of the retina decreases, the optic disk of the edema is determined in the respective ODE.
EFFECT: method provides fast and reliable establishment of ODE already at its initial stages by means of mathematical quantitative analysis of retina thickness in two localized points of optic nerve head by OCT.
