METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING THE EDEMA OF THE OPTIC DISC Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC A61B5/00 A61F9/00

Abstract RU 2757584 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. The edema of the optic disc (OD) is diagnosed. An image of the retina in the OD area is obtained using optical coherence tomography. The retinal thickness is determined in the OD area, wherein the retinal thickness is measured in the obtained image of the retina in the temporal side of the OD along a vertical straight line oriented perpendicular to the Bruch's membrane in the retinal area and the projection of this membrane in the OD. Based on the measurement results, the value of maximum thickness within the borders of the OD and the value of minimum retinal thickness outside of the borders of the OD, obtained in measurements laterally to the end of the Bruch's membrane, are found. If the value of maximum thickness within the borders of the OD exceeds the value of minimum retinal thickness outside of the borders of the OD by more than 10%, then the edema of the OD is diagnosed. If this value is less than 10%, then the subclinical edema of the OD is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method allows for quick and reliable diagnostics of edema of the OD at any stage due to the use of informative indicators of morphometric quantitative measurements of the retinal thickness by comparing the ratio of the largest retinal thickness to the smallest in an image obtained by radial scanning along the hourly meridians using an optical coherence tomograph, regardless of the model and manufacturer thereof.
