FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method refers to clinical medicine, namely – to dentistry and clinical laboratory diagnostics. Method for assessing severity of chronic generalized periodontitis is based on a cytological analysis of buccal epithelium, in which a number of buccal epitheliocytes with condensed chromatin is counted. Level of such cells is used to determine severity of chronic generalized periodontitis. Normal cell contents of buccal epithelium with condensed chromatin makes less than 1 %. In individuals with clinical-X-ray signs of periodontitis with values 1.0–3.5 %, a chronic periodontitis of mild and moderate severity is stated, and a severity of more than 3.5 % is stated.
EFFECT: method is easy to implement, higher rate and accuracy of determining severity of disease.
