FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and is intended for implementation in devices for determining point of damage to power transmission lines (PTL), in devices for controlling extinction of arc of electric power transmission line, measuring elements of distance protection. Summary: instantaneous current and current phase values of power transmission lines are continuously measured. Measurement process is started with a relay protection start signal which is started at the moment of occurrence of damage at this power transmission line. Power transmission line, from which the relay protection signal has arrived, is exposed to probing pulses. Pulses reflected from damage point are received. Arrival time of the pulse reflected from the point of damage is recorded and the distance to the point of damage is determined from the time interval between the moment of probing and the moment of arrival of the reflected pulse taking into account the parameters of this power transmission line. At that moment of minimum value of electric resistance of arc short-circuit point is determined from measured instantaneous values of current intensity and current phase of power transmission lines, with which synchronizing moments of formation of pulses probing power transmission line.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the point of damage to transmission line due to use of information on phase of current of arc short circuit, instantaneous value of current amplitude of arc short circuit and implementation of its dynamic model, taking into account change in electric parameters of arc short circuit in time.
