FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and means of determining physical and mechanical characteristics of a carrier or catalyst, in particular to a method of determining abrasion factor and to a device for determining abrasion factor of a carrier or catalyst. Method of determining abrasion factor of a carrier or catalyst includes the following steps: weighing of abradable carrier or catalyst; placing an abradable carrier or catalyst into a device which is a vertical constant-diameter tube containing a gas feed system; abrasion of carrier or catalyst by feeding gas into lower part of vertical tube; termination of abrasion; unloading catalyst or carrier from device; weighing of the wear-abraded carrier or catalyst, determining abrasion factor of the support or catalyst by comparing the mass value of the support or catalyst obtained before and after abrasion, wherein gas supply to lower part of vertical tube is performed with linear speed from approximately 0.1 to approximately 20 m/s, and vertical tube is used with ratio of inner diameter of tube to size of carrier or catalyst from 3:1 to 100:1, ratio of tube height to tube inner diameter from 30:1 to 100:1, ratio of height of carrier layer or catalyst before supply of gas flow to inner diameter of device tube from 5:1 to 15:1. Device for this method implementation.
EFFECT: technical result is simplification and high reproducibility of determining abrasion factor of carrier or catalyst in aerodynamic conditions close to industrial.
