FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of temperature in cutting zone when using blade and diamond-abrasive tools. Disclosed is a method of determining contact temperature during mechanical processing of materials by an artificial thermocouple, consisting in continuous supply of the tool towards the thermocouple with simultaneous oscillography of its output voltage and determination of the approximating function of temperature distribution in the processed material. In process of cutting, tool feed is stopped when optimum distance between tool and thermocouple is achieved, and to determine contact temperature, the approximating function obtained at the stage of their approach is extrapolated on the section remaining to the cutting zone.
EFFECT: possibility of determining actual value of contact temperature during mechanical processing of materials and evaluation of temperature value in cutting zone taking into account change in thermophysical properties of treated material from temperature.
