SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. A method for configuring a client device for a communication session comprises steps of: receiving a notification that a communication session is initiated in a network, wherein notification includes session notification application programming interface (API), which includes value for session communication attribute; detecting connection of client device to network based on said attribute of communication session; applying a session attribute to a network policy for a network to set a parameter for a communication session; configuring a session API with a parameter for a communication session by applying an attribute value; generating a configuration event and transmitting a configuration event to a client device which is connected to the network and which participates in the communication session.
EFFECT: technical result is optimization of functional characteristics of device during participation in communication session over wireless network.
