FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to detection of physical threats approaching a vehicle. External sensors on the vehicle cover the environment around the vehicle. Approaching targets detected by external sensors can be transmitted to a neural network for recognition and/or classification of approaching targets as potential threats. Tracking mechanisms may use time information to determine if the threat approaches the vehicle. If an approaching threat is detected, the vehicle may activate one or more countermeasures. If the vehicle includes the possibility of autonomous driving, the countermeasures may include an automatic attempt to leave at a distance from the approaching threat.
EFFECT: providing assistance to driver to determine danger or threat approaching vehicle.
