SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a liquid formulation intended for reaction-injection molding, for polymerization of a norbornene-based monomer in the presence of a metathesis polymerization catalyst comprising tungsten as a central metal, liquid formulation contains a norbornene-based monomer, a catalyst activator and an ether compound described by formula (1-1), where R1 and R2 independently denote a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, provided that R1 and/or R2 represent an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, liquid formulation is obtained by mixing a norbornene-based monomer and an activator in the presence of at least a given compound in form of an ether, wherein when the norbornene-based monomer contains dicyclopentadiene, the main component of dicyclopentadiene is endodicyclopentadiene and the content of exodicyclopentadiene ranges from 0 to 2 wt%, wherein ratio of components in mixture between compound in form of ether and activator (compound in form of ether/activator) corresponds to molar ratio in range from 0.1/1 to 30/1. Also described is a method of making said liquid formulation for reaction-injection molding, comprising a step of mixing a norbornene-based monomer and an activator in the presence of at least said compound in the form of ether. Described is a method of making an article molded by reactive injection molding, comprising a step for conducting a reaction liquid mixture, obtained by mixing said liquid formulation for reaction-injection molding, with a catalyst for metathesis polymerization, which includes tungsten as a central metal, polymerization in bulk in a mold while performing reaction-casting molding. Described is a molded article produced by said method, obtained by said method, for use in automotive parts, construction and industrial machinery, applications for recreation, medical applications, industrial applications and housing facilities.
EFFECT: obtaining a liquid formulation intended for reaction-injection molding, characterized by improved storage stability, obtaining an article characterized by high quality and high strength.
