SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technologies and particularly to a method and apparatus for transmitting data over a wide frequency range. Invention discloses a method for transmitting a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) of an extended range SU-mode, which includes steps, at which: generating a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) of an extended range SU-mode, wherein the legacy portion of the preamble in the extended range SU-mode PPDU is transmitted using 20 MHz bandwidth, the portion of data in the extended range SU-mode PPDU is transmitted using the narrowband communication, and bandwidth in narrowband transmission includes at least one of following parameters: 26-ton RU, 52-ton RU, 106-ton RU or 242-ton RU. Versions of the present invention additionally provide the corresponding data transmission device.

EFFECT: invention is intended for transmitting data over long distances in a wireless local area network with a high degree of probability that part of data in a data packet will be correctly received.
