FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of transport machine building, in particular, to brake blocks of cars, electric trains and other rail transport. Braking shoe comprises composite friction element, metal carcass and flat lateral surface. On the part of the flat side surface corresponding to the part of the shoe which is not abradable during operation in the zone of the metal frame, two recesses are made. Recesses are made with conical and flat surfaces. Flat surfaces of recesses are arranged at irregular angle relative to flat side surface of shoe.
EFFECT: possibility of visual determination of degree of wear of shoe and possibility of timely replacement of shoe.
