FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ecology and environmental protection and can be used for observation for ecological condition of water areas by means of bioindicators, for example plankton. In a water medium with suspended particles, a collimated flux of non-activated optical radiation is transmitted in the selected direction, analyzed volume is formed and photoelectric registration of shadow image of this volume is performed in form of a digital axial hologram of Gabor. Two adjacent laser pulses are used and two holograms which characterize volume with some time shift are recorded. Volume image is reconstructed from holograms in layers digitally. Processing information in each cross-section, finding coordinates of individuals of plankton, changing their coordinates during time elapsed between two exposures, and determining the bioindicators mobility, which is used as integral characteristic of the water area. Periodically performing this action, performing monitoring observations of deviations from a natural cycle of behavioral changes of bioindicators and give assessment of ecological condition of water bodies.
EFFECT: invention enables tracking real-time behavioral activity of plankton.
