FIELD: oceanology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oceanology, in particular, seismology and hydrobiology, and can be used for rapid evaluation of high geophysical activity in sea water areas, leading to earthquakes. For this purpose, from water area to be investigated initial plankton samples are collected containing hydrobionts-bioindicators. From initial samples resultant sample is obtained by selection of hydrobionts-bioindicators of Chaetognath type and visual analysis of their outer morphological features is carried out. In presence in at least of one zooid chaetognaths disorders of muscular tissue, eyes and integrity of body, presence of high geophysical activity in investigated offshore zone is judged. Most efficient sampling is by vertical total fishing from bottom to surface or by horizontal bottom fishing. Effective is visual examination of outer morphological features, which characterise state of muscular tissue, eyes and integrity of body of analysed chaetognaths individuals by observation with naked eye or using magnifying glass or microscope. At that, visual examination of said outer morphological features can be performed both in living chaetognaths individuals, and in individuals fixed by 4 % formalin.
EFFECT: invention enables rapid visual assessment of presence or absence of high geophysical activity in marine environment at any time irrespective of season due to use of pseudobenthos hydrobionts as bioindicators widespread at sea.
