SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of processing a steel strip, in particular treatment of a steel strip by etching, by means of treatment liquid in a processing plant, wherein treatment unit comprises treatment bath with irrigation section and submersible section and wherein processing plant comprises common trapping agent for treatment liquid, and the steel strip consists of carbon steel and is a continuous steel strip oriented substantially horizontally both in its longitudinal and transverse directions and has an upper surface and a lower surface. Method comprises continuous movement of steel strip through treatment plant in direction of movement, wherein the direction of movement is parallel to the longitudinal direction of the steel strip, such that at the first step when the steel strip is located in the irrigation section of the treatment plant, the treatment liquid is sprayed onto the upper surface of the steel strip and on the lower surface of the steel strip, at the second step, when the steel strip is located in the immersion section of the treatment plant, the steel strip is immersed into the treatment liquid, wherein during treatment of the steel strip, the treatment fluid is continuously pumped from the common trap and through both the irrigation section and the immersion section of the treatment plant, at that spraying treatment liquid on steel strip upper and lower surfaces is performed using sprinkler nozzles.
