DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE OF APPENDIX CONDITION IN APPENDICULAR INFILTRATE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B5/00 A61B6/00 G01N33/48

Abstract RU 2691709 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery and can be used for diagnosing the state of appendix in an appendicular infiltrate. Computer tomography is performed. Serum ferritin level is determined. Scores are evaluated in points: diameter of vermiform appendix more than 12 mm – 1 point, "stratification" of fatty tissue in peri-perpendicular region – 1 point, focal fluid accumulation in the right iliac fossa – 1 point, thickening of the wall of the vermiform appendix more than 9 mm – 1 point, thickening of latero-canal and/or prerenal fascia – 1 point, presence of gas bubbles peri-perpendicular – 2 points. Blood serum ferritin is evaluated: 0 to 100 ng/ml – 1 point, 101 to 200 ng/ml – 2 points, and 201 to 300 ng/ml – 3 points. Total score is derived. Absence of destruction is determined with total score of 3 and less. If score is 4-5, the probability of the destructive process is diagnosed. If observing 6 points or more, the presence of an abnormality of the wall of the appendix is determined.

EFFECT: method enables providing more accurate diagnosis of the state of appendicitis and determining the therapeutic approach by evaluating the complex of the most significant indicators.
