FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to an aerosol-generating article adapted to produce an inhaled aerosol when heated. Aerosol generating article extending from a mouth end to a distal end, comprising an aerosol generating element, and a downstream section located downstream of the aerosol generating element. Downstream section extends from the downstream end of the aerosol-generating element to the mouth end of the aerosol-generating article. Downstream section draw resistance (RTD) is less than 10 mm H2O. From 5 to 35 percent of the length of the downstream section contains the first section forming the first empty section for air passage. At least 65 percent of the length of the downstream section comprises a second section forming a second empty section for air passage. Total cross-sectional area of the first empty section formed by the first section is less than the total cross-sectional area of the second empty section formed by the second section.

EFFECT: obtaining an article for use in combination with an external heating system, characterized by improved aerosol generation and delivery of the aerosol-forming substance with satisfactory low RTD variability from one article to another.
