FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to dentistry. Video gastroscope is used with image magnification of not less than 136 times, combined with video processor. Stage of a wedge-like defect is diagnosed by the color intensity of the involved tooth enamel areas. Absence of coloring is initial manifestations with no apparent loss of tissue. Pale pink coloration is surface wedge-like defects with defect depth of up to 0.2 mm. Pink staining – average wedge-like defects with average defect depth of 0.2–0.3 mm. Bright red – deep wedge-like defect with depth of more than 0.3 mm and involvement of deep dentin layers.

EFFECT: method enables accurate differential diagnosis of tooth enamel defects by using a video gastroscope combined with a video processor, as well as assessment of tooth enamel staining.
