FIELD: transportation, packaging and storage.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device and a method of splicing flat continuous material, which can be used in making smoking articles. Proposed device comprises transport unit to transfer first and second flat continuous materials to splicing point and pressure application unit arranged at splicing point. Transfer unit is configured to transport materials parallel to each other to form an overlapping section of the first and second material at the splicing point, and the pressure application unit is configured to apply a mechanical impact to at least part of the overlapping portion. At that, transportation system comprises belt conveyor located beyond at least part of overlapping section, and in at least part of overlapping section pressure application unit is made with possibility of mechanical impact force application to it. Method comprises the step of providing first and second substantially flat continuous material, step of aligning the first and second materials with an overlapping manner to form an overlapping portion, and a step of applying mechanical impact action to the overlapping section, as a result of which the first material is connected to the second one. At that, the mechanical impact action application stage is performed outside the transportation system transportation path.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides the possibility of splicing a substantially flat continuous material which can be used in making aerosol-generating articles or smoking articles.
