SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a smoking article which contains a tobacco substrate and a filter, wherein the filter comprises a filter segment comprising a filter material, wherein the filter segment has a cross-sectional area measured perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the filter; and an aroma delivery element embedded in the filter segment and surrounded on all sides by filter material of the filter segment, wherein aroma delivery element comprises structural material enclosing liquid flavoring agent to impart aroma to smoke during smoking, wherein aroma delivery element releases at least part of liquid flavoring agent when filter is subjected to external force; wherein aroma delivery element cross-section area, measured perpendicular to filter longitudinal direction is 30 % or more cross-section area of filter segment, and wherein the filter material of the filter segment comprises fibers from 5.0 to 12.0 denier per filament and from 10,000 to 30,000 denier in general, wherein the filter segment and the aroma delivery element have a circular cross-section, the diameter of the filter segment ranges from 3.6 to 6.5 mm, and the aroma delivery element diameter is from 2.5 to 4.5 mm, wherein the aroma delivery element comprises a capsule, wherein the filter further comprises a rim material, a tobacco substrate and a filter, wherein the rim material comprises a ventilation zone comprising perforations through the rim material, wherein the perforation holes are located upstream of the aroma delivery element, wherein the filter also comprises a cavity upstream of the filter segment containing the aroma delivery element.
