FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for investigation of parameters of dynamic deformation of metal materials in aircraft and space equipment. Method comprises detecting an electromagnetic field occurring during dynamic deformation of bodies, e.g. during high-speed collision of bodies. Useful signal is recorded by an analyzed sample connected through a coaxial electrical connection to a measurement device: an oscilloscope, a multimeter, a voltmeter, etc. Function which approximates the received signal is differentially or systematically differentiated. Deformation rate is determined, which is numerically equal to value of derivative taken with opposite sign, as the argument tends to zero. Deformation end time is determined, which is equal to time of local extremum of derivative. In case of high-speed collision of striker and target, time of this extremum determines time of striker stopping at penetration into target.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining parameters of deformation, possibility of determining strain rate and time of deformation termination.
