FIELD: nuclear energy.

SUBSTANCE: nuclear reactor housing cooling method in case of severe accident (SA) consists in that the nuclear reactor housing cooling system is equipped with a group of spray devices, which in the event of an emergency, supplies a cooling medium consisting of a liquid phase by spraying on the external side surface of the reactor housing. In the nuclear reactor housing cooling system a group of spraying devices is installed around the external surface of the nuclear reactor body. Screen-deflector is installed with clearance relative to outer surface of nuclear reactor housing. Gas-liquid and vapor phases of cooling gas-liquid medium components are removed from said gap. Temperature of the cooling gas-liquid medium has a temperature lower than the boiling point of the liquid component of said gas-liquid cooling medium. There is also nuclear reactor housing cooling device in case of SA.

EFFECT: group of inventions reduces risk of nuclear reactor housing destruction SA.
