FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: steel-aluminium high-strength, high-temperature insulated wire for overhead power transmission line contains steel core, is made by multi-operation method, which consists in layer-by-layer manufacturing of core, number of layers can vary from one to four. Layers are twisted in opposite directions. To reduce the effect of point contact of wires in the core, which are stress concentrators, each next layer of steel wires wound around the central wire is plastically deformed with a degree of reduction over the cross-section area of 5–8 %.
EFFECT: plastic deformation of each layer smoothes the surface of the layer before twisting of the next one, concentrators of voltages from point contact of wires are minimized.
