SUBSTANCE: invention relates to solving the problem of determining phased antenna array (PAA) failure of a radar station during its operation. Phased antenna array (PAA) diagnostics method is based on the beam pattern (BP) measurement performed by the beam scanning and measurement of the signal level at the output of the phased antenna array at different angular positions of the beam. Scanning of the beam is carried out in the process of scanning space using a radar station, and the signal is a probing signal of the radar station, reflected from a single reflector, obtained BP is compared with reference ones, decision is made on health of PAA if it corresponds to reference one, which is obtained for sound PAA, or for failure of PAA element, if it coincides with reference value obtained in case of failure of this element.

EFFECT: enabling measurement of the BD of the phased antenna array during operation of the radar station without using an additional signal.
