FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology, and represents a method for prediction of the disease outcome in patients with gastric cancer after surgical treatment, involving the malignant dialdehyde and catalase activity determining in tumor tissue samples taken during the operation, characterized by that the ratio of the malondialdehyde level to the catalase activity is calculated, and if its value is 0.150±0.030 predicting the favorable outcome of the disease, namely the absence of recurrences and/or metastases in the observation period from 1 month to 1.5 years; and if ratio of malondialdehyde level to catalase activity is 0.380±0.123 the unfavorable outcome of the disease is predicted, namely the presence of recurrences and/or metastases in the observation period from 1 month to 1.5 years and a high probability of death of the patients; at values between the above intervals, the result is considered to be undefined.

EFFECT: invention provides objective prediction of disease outcome in patients with gastric cancer after surgical intervention regardless of morphological nature of tumor, sex and age of patients, and when establishing a high probability of the unfavorable outcome of the disease, to change the antitumour treatment approach.
