FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, and is applicable in newborns with congenital malformations of the spinal cord and spinal column (meningocele, meningoradiculocele, etc.). On the first day of the newborn's life, the tachocomb's haemostatic sponge soaked in 0.9 % physiologic solution is applied for four weeks, covering the whole hernial sac shell surface. Surface of haemostatic sponge "tachocomb" is dried with sterile gauze until complete adhesion with hernial sac. If the liquor is wetting the haemostatic "tachacomb" sponge or the adhesion thereof is violated with the hernial sac surface, the haemostatic "tachacomb" sponge is replaced by the same one.
EFFECT: method, by closing the hernial sac cover with a haemostatic "tachacomb" sponge, enables minimizing the risk of developing liquorrhea, strengthens a thin membrane of the hernial sac, delaying the on-line correction of the CNS defect for up to 4 weeks.
