FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of methyl acetate by dimethyl ether carbonylation. This method includes bringing dimethyl ether into a contact with carbon monoxide carried out in a reactor, in the presence of a zeolite catalyst obtained using a matrix assembly reagent, and hydrogen, at a temperature equal from 250 to 350°C, and at a ratio of a number of hydrogen moles to a number of carbon monoxide moles, equal to at least 1. The method additionally includes addition to the reactor of at least one compound containing a functional hydroxy group, wherein one or more hydroxy compounds are selected from the following: aliphatic C1-C4-alcohols, aliphatic C1-C4-carboxylic acids, water, and mixtures thereof. At the same time, the method is carried out in the absence of added methyl acetate.
EFFECT: in the present invention, reduction in the deactivation rate of a zeolite catalyst or at least its maintenance is successfully provided, and, thus, an increased service life of the catalyst is ensured.
