SUBSTANCE: invention relates to photocatalytic disinfection and cleaning of environment, for example, water or air, and can be used in medical and preventive, administrative, public, office and residential premises. Photocatalytic device comprises a hollow optical fiber having the possibility of passing current along the fiber and with the possibility of filling at least one cavity with a gas capable of ionizing under the effect of an electric field created by current passing along the fiber to the degree of ionisation, at which gas emits light, wherein at least part of fiber contains photocatalytic material.

EFFECT: excluding scattering and reducing intensity of radiation transmitted to photocatalyst on entire length of optical fiber with simultaneous reduction of overall dimensions.
