FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Method of knee joint fixation for orthovoltage X-ray therapy consists in fixing a lower extremity with a specified angle of knee joint bending during an irradiation session. Simultaneously, both lower extremities are placed in a fixing device, which is a set of three nonmetallic detachable blocks. First unit is made in form of support platform with holes, between which Velcro fasteners are installed for installation of two other detachable fixing blocks in form of steps of different height of polygonal shape, with given angle on front surface of each unit 15°, with holes and Velcro for fixation of blocks to each other and fixation of lower extremity. When performing the fixation, the patient is laid on his/her side, the lower extremity is placed on the lower block, the upper extremity – on the upper one so that the posterior surfaces of extremities adjoin the front surfaces of the corresponding blocks at the specified angle. Marking on the skin of the examined knee joint is performed so that it is parallel to the procedural table, after which the extremity is fixed with the Velcro and the X-ray tube is centered by the marking.
EFFECT: invention provides the accuracy of laying the limb in a certain position on the side with an angle of flexion in knee joint 10–15° and reliable fixation of this position.
