FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of carbon articles. Technical result is achieved by a method of producing a carbon article which includes mixing a carbon material with a dispersion medium which is a carbon-containing binder and a solvent, extruding a plastic carbon composition, drying article, heat treatment in non-oxidative medium and activation in oxidising medium. Carbon-containing binder used is a mixture of three polymers - a polymer which forms a true solution in the solvent, a polymer which forms a colloidal solution in the solvent, and a polymer which forms an aggregate-stable suspension with the solvent, with ratio of polymers of 1:(3–8):(6–11). Amount of the carbon-containing binder in the dispersion medium is 10–20 wt. %.

EFFECT: technical result is higher quality due to elimination of defects of cellular carbon articles.
