FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the radar ranging of aerial targets (AT) and can be used in pulse-Doppler radar stations (RS). Said result is achieved due to that method is based on radiation of probing radio pulses (PRP) bursts with given pulse repetition frequency (PRF) and linear frequency modulation (LFM) of carrier frequency, receiving signals reflected from the target and ground, measuring the ambiguous delay and the LFM Doppler frequency of the AT signal shifted in the chirp. Current and memorized frequency measurements, if necessary, are recalculated taking into account possible change of the PRF index, and used to determine speed and unambiguous range. In case if there is a noticeable displacement of the ambiguous delay in the interval between the PRP, the range is calculated taking into account this displacement. Number of repetition period is determined based on unambiguous range and current value of current range (with accuracy of delay measurement) is determined based on current measurement of ambiguous delay.
EFFECT: technical result is high accuracy of detecting, measuring range and speed of low altitude low-speed target.
