FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic synthesis, specifically to a method of producing isovaleric acid – (CH3)2CHCH2COOH, catalytic oxidation of isoamyl alcohol with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a bifunctional metal complex catalyst which functions as an oxidation and interphase transfer catalyst which is a compound of general formula Q3{PO4[Mo(O)(O2)2]4}, where: Q-quaternary ammonium cation – [(R1)3NR2]+, where: R1, R2 contain from 4 to 8 carbon atoms or N-hexadecylpyridinium cation.
EFFECT: simple technique while maintaining high output of isovaleric acid.
